Pairing Whore Penguins

John is love; unnamable horrors are everywhere, aren't they?

Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption is, at long last, a church that I can support. God, but I love John Oliver. In other news, mind the unnamable, unimaginable thing in this guy's basement.

Good morning! Shog is *coughssadlycoughs* working out of the house, this week, and it's almost quiet here. The sound of Mom's t.v. is the only thing interrupting my birdsong. Thus far, I've fed and watered Albus, the cats, and the plants, made tea, made breakfast, given pet medication, soothed medicated pets, pee-broken the dog, tidied some, started a laundry load, watched Last Week Tonight (links to mega church segment), noodled about online after balancing the checkbook, planned menus, and written a bit in my head. I think it's going to be a good, productive day.

Mom wants to get out of the house today; she'd like to go "somewhere, anywhere, just out!" so I think I'll take her to get a haircut and then to one of the local farm markets to walk around a bit and buy some greens. She said to me the other day, "Why isn't this thing [her new device] working?" and I allowed as how the device would help her heart work better, but that she actually had to work her heart in order for it to become stronger. However grudgingly, I hope that she accepts her need to exercise. (She's totally fine, by the way, and doing so much better than I ever did after my device placement; Mom's not even taking pain meds!)

I'm almost healed enough to get back to my own exercise regime, and that pleases me; even though Shog's worried that I've been overdoing things, I feel sluggish. I want to go back to working toward my 10 miles per day! I was so close, so v. v. close. *frustrated*

Oh, one other frustration? The predictability of supposedly twist-y science fiction movies. I saw Ex Machina the other day, and while it was well done and beautiful, there was no doubt in my mind as to what was going to happen from the moment I saw [Spoiler (click to open)]the damage to the glass in the observation room. *sighs*

But if those are my only complaints, you know that things are going well. :D

*waves, may return later with drabbles*
