Book search! (ETA)

I'm trying to fill out a physical, hardbound book collection of the Please Don't Tell My Parents series by Richard Roberts (his publisher went belly up and there's been a rush on the books by resellers who are jacking up the prices for the books to an alarming degree). Does anyone have the following books they'd be willing to sell/trade/give?

  • Please Don't Tell My Parents I've Got Henchman

  • Please Don't Tell My Parents I Have a Nemesis

  • Please Don't Tell My Parents You Believe Her This may have only been released as an Audio CD; (ETA) I need it as a hardback if it exists; I found the softback. (ETA II) I actually need this in HB and PB forms if they exist.

  • I Did NOT Give That Spider Superhuman Intelligence

As a completionist, I am freaking out that I've not yet got all the hard copies! *cries*

Sounds like an interesting series. I did some net surfing cause I'd never heard of them. Good luck in your search. I know the demands of being a 'completist'. (I have now got the monkey off my back and no longer buy ANY books at all.)

PS: I checked my library ... no books in the series at all.

Being a completionist sucks. I do have the stories in audio format, but I really want them as hardcovers; that's how I complete series I love for myself. The softcover set is for a niece because hardcovers are too unwieldy for her. :P

Oh, the suffering!

Are you listening to books, now, or hitting the library? How have you kicked your habit?

TBH, my financial situation took a massive nosedive 5 yrs ago when work got reduced to 2/3 of what I used to count on. Buying books became a luxury that I could no longer afford. So I get books from the library. And I read fanfiction. LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of fanfiction.

I also have a nice collection of sci-fi and fantasy (and mysteries) from the last 30 plus years that I sometimes pull out and reread when I get nostalgic.

I can't get into audio books. My car trips are too short and when I'm at home, well, there's the computer etc. :)

I don't think I would have made it through childhood without the library; we went almost every other day because we read so much, and there was no way we could have afforded all those books. I still go because I still read in a "profligate manner" as a non-reading aunt once told me. And fanfiction is a huge gift, even now. It's the gift that keeps on giving, and I like being able to connect to people through it because I'm not always good at that.

What are your favorite series that you pull out to reread?

It's taken me some time to get used to audio books. Shog used to have an hours-long commute and he learned to love them pretty quickly. Now that's our favorite date, riding around listening to books on the way to far-away parks and the like. :D

We couldn't afford to buy 'romances' as my dad referred to any fiction book, when I was growing up. My mom wasn't ever a a reader so there wasn't much support from that side. The library was my friend. When I could finally afford to buy my own books, I bought paperbacks. Over the years the cost keep rising however. Eventually I DID buy some hardcovers esp once I started frequenting second hand book stores. When I was happy, I bought a book. When I was sad ... I bought a book. :)

The last series I reread from start to finish was the Donna Andrews bird titled mystery series ie. "Crouching Buzzard Leaping Loon". I may pick up the Jean Auel "Earth's Children" series next. And one day, I really SHOULD read the actual Harry Potter series. I stopped with #4 cause I was going to wait for the entire series to come out. Problem is, the fanfic is so good, I don't know that I want to. Esp the new 'sequels'.

There are SO many good series that I want to reread that I don't have time to read any new books. :)

You know, Shog and I never did finish the last act of Cursed Child, which is fanfiction as far as I'm concerned (and not as good as I'm used to reading :P). I think the core Potter books are worth a read . . . .

When I was happy, I bought a book. When I was sad ... I bought a book. :)

This is familiar to me. :D

I'm going to add the Andrews series to my list; it looks fun!

When you said "hardbound" do you actually mean hard/board covers, or do you just mean "hard copies" as in a physical book, which could be a paperback (i.e. softcover)?

Edit: It doesn't look like any of these were published in hardback, only in Kindle, audio, or paperback.

Edit 2: I tell a lie, the last one was published in hardcover. But it doesn't look like any of that binding are available :(

I mean a hard/board-cover copy of a physical book, not the paperback form of one when I say hardbound.

I'm having a hell of a time finding some of them; the last book in the series, That You Believe Her, prolly never saw hardbound format because the company was going under, but I did find someone purporting to sell the PB form—only to cancel my order after two days, so I don't know if they were mistaken about having it or mistaken about having the PB form of it. *keeps looking*
