Our Zelda

Zelda's gained a tiny bit of weight and her blood work shows that her organ function is pretty good, but our "lymphoma kitty," as the vet refers to her, still has doughy intestines and is undeniably winding down. Her time is, as Shog and I thought, nigh.

I'm sad to have had my suspicions confirmed, but Shog and I have given Zelda a good life, and now it's time to keep her comfortable and let nature take its course. If it becomes necessary, we will pay her the final kindness, but we're not there, yet.

Here are our girls in younger days.

This picture was taken when Niamh was almost fully integrated into the household, but still young enough to annoy Zelda (and it features the 'Foot giving zero fucks):

This one was taken after Niamh had been playing with Zelda's tail:

Here's another throwback pic: our wee future hellcat, Merva, taking to her solid food:

And here's my gorgeous Zelda, deigning to look upon me:

She's a good girl, and she mothered both Niamh and Merva more than I would have expected her to. Of course, even now, if I play a YouTube vid of kittens meowing, Zelda will get up and search for them.

I may post some more current pics soon, but right now, I'm going to make a pot of tea and baby myself; I can no longer ignore my cold, and my Zel' wants to snuggle.

(Tomorrow, I think, honeymink; today just got away from me.)

You've got a full house there.

Hope you get over that cold soon.

We do, but thankfully, the PtB haven't sent us any other animals. ;)

Thanks! I'm going to make chicken soup today; that will help. :D

Let me know if there is anything I can do. *hugs*
I was going to say Zelda's fur/colouring looks a lot like a cat my sister once had. The one she has now is completely black with a facial expression that could give "grumpy cat" a run for her money. ;)

Thank you. I think it was good to talk and have people listen about how sad I am, but having expressed it, I feel prepared to enjoy the time I have left with Zelda. Death is just another part of life, and barring pain, it doesn't have to be a bad experience.

Torties are love, and your sister's current cat sounds adorable. :D
