Additional progress!/Monthly Wrap-Up: July

Mom has color in her cheeks, her energy is up, her pain management is better, and her fasting blood sugar was 123 this morning (it should be anywhere from 70-120, so we're close to goal)! I'm sure that her next round of blood work will show improvement, and that her doctor will be as pleased as I am by her progress. *twirls*

I've lost seven pounds since I've been here because (even though it sucks) one must set a good example. :P

Today, however, there will be strawberry-rhubarb pie; Mom's been working hard and deserves it, and it helps her embrace eating healthily if there are a few special items on the menu. Said items are, of course, prepared in a nutritionally sound manner. Basically, my goal has been to offer Mom a variety of portion-controlled foods in a manner that she can easily duplicate when I go home (although I'll be helping her with her shopping and prep work a few times a week going forward). So far, so good (but goodness, I'm tired)!

Happy August!

In other news, I wrote two drabbles last month:

Two in the Bush (PG-13; Arthur/"Helga"; 100 words): Arthur makes his fantasy come true.

Missing Her (PG-13; Snape/Tonks; 100 words)

Thank you! (Mom doesn't always think so, though. :P)

When you make her do stuff she doesn't want to, I'm sure she says that but I think in the quite moments before she falls asleep, she acknowledges how lucky she is to have you taking care of her. :)
