I share Ginny's frustration at the moment; hence this drabble. (Shog would live on take-away if I let him, and if he doesn't eat tonight's dinner . . . .)

In Ginny's hands, what to Harry had appeared an indifferent collection of comestibles became a feast. The meal began with a spicy cucumber and coconut milk soup. The soup was followed by a ham and goat cheese tart, which was served with braised radishes in brown sauce, ginger-butter-braised celery with roasted walnuts, sautéd mushrooms, and caramelised onions with nutmeg. For dessert, there was a dried fruit pudding smothered in hard sauce.

Harry licked his spoon and smiled. "Delicious! Thanks."

"You're welcome, but now that your kitchen's truly empty, you'd best go shopping."

"Why?"

"Because tomorrow, it's your turn to cook."

I confess that not all of the menu items tantalize my taste buds so I might still get take away (hides styrofoam container which once held a classic gyros and french fries and empty pop cup). The dessert sounds very tasty though I still have rugelach and thumbprint cookies that I made over the last couple of days. :)

One does what one can with what's in the pantry. :P

I've made some 'interesting' meals in my time as well. Soups are usually the result.

Thank you. :)

You're welcome. :)

It's a great source of disappointment to me that Shog despises soup, which he calls "wet food." I love soup!

My mother always used to say that a bowl of soup to start a meal was a must-have, especially in the fall, winter and spring months. :) She only made a couple of kinds ... I've expanded them quite a bit though miso soup is probably my favourite quick kind.

That reminds me, I have another miso soup recipe to post, with some pictures this time. :)
