In attempting to migrate Subtextual Healing's posts to my back-up journals, I inadvertently caused duplicate entries to appear on them—and on this journal. I have no idea how I did that, and, at this point, it doesn't matter because, in attempting to remove the duplicate posts here and on my back-up journals, I actually deleted some posts. *headdesk* (The reason you can't see the majority of my posts on any of my journals is that I altered the posts' security settings to "Private" before the migration so that I could alter their internal links and formatting options before making them "Public" on the back-up journals. When I tried earlier today to change the posts' security settings on this journal, I discovered the deletions.)

The long and the short of it is that I've screwed up all my journals, and I'm now going to have to reconstruct a lot of fic posts where there have been deletions. Making this situation worse is that the ljArchive file of my intact version of Subtextual Healing has been corrupted, which means that some of the entries I've deleted are well and truly gone, including their comments, and I won't be able to backdate them appropriately.

I have all my stories saved off-line, so I'll be able to "rescue" the fics, but it's going to take me some time to do that. Clearly, I'm not competent to use perfectly good migration and back-up tools (especially when sleep-deprived, which only increased my incompetence). In any case, I'll be making all the repairs (and migrating the corrected posts from here) "by hand" to avoid making similar mistakes in future.

I'm disgusted with myself, and I apologize to those of you who were actively reading stories which you can no longer access. I'll work as quickly as possibly to bring the stories back up. Please be patient with me while I'm in the process of restoring my lj.

And yes, I do know that I should archive all of my fics to The Archive and Walking the Plank. I'm going to be doing that, as well.

You are now free to point and laugh. *sobs*

ETA: to whom it may concern: None of this means I won't be available to RP. ;)

ETA II: Most of my internal links appear to be screwed up, too. *tears hair*

ETA III: Some posts have stripped headers and are now attached to comments that don't belong to them. Fuck me if I know what I'm going to do, now. *sobs*

ETA IV: I've lost two fics: A Charlie(?)/Hermione in which there is jealousy over a mistaken impression and make-up sex (which I believe was based on a prompt by inell), and a fic involving various permutations of Lucius, Narcissa, and Severus, "featuring" AtM, among other things. I didn't save those stories to my drive. :(

OMG, I shouldn't have told you about LJ-SEC. This is probably much more work than it would have otherwise been

On your computer just clcik on the recent documents, maybe you have some of them sitting in temporary folders you haven't deleted yet.

Did you ask LJ-Sec to reverse it's actions?

Can't think of anything else right now, but will get back to you as soon as I can

Do a Refresh of all items, it could possibly retrieve the stuff for you.

*hugs* So sorry you had such a catastrophe... moving is such an endeavour, I haven't even thought about fixing links and etc. I hope that it goes better for you!

*hugs* I'm sorry for your troubles and I wouldn't laugh at you over this. I only had to move less than 10 posts between my two other journals and I had trouble with that so I can only imagine what you had to go through.
Aug. 5th, 2007 11:17 pm (UTC)
*hugs* That sucks. I'm so sorry to hear that your migration of posts went so badly :-(
Aug. 5th, 2007 11:17 pm (UTC)
*hugs* That well and truly sucks. No laughter here, because sometimes computers just screw up and leave you in positions like this.

*squeezes hard* I wouldn't laugh. I messed things up when I migrated my measly 30 odd entries. The formatting is still messed up on a few of the GJ entries, but I can't care. *g*

Hope you get this all sorted soon.

Poor Iuls. :( I won't laugh at you, because I know if I attempted anything like that I would lose all data. Hopefully the rest of your life is going smoothly.

*hugs* we are with you in this crisis. For serious.

*Hugs* I've no idea how to help...so waves of support your way.

*points at the Kleenex box on the desk*

*purses lips Minerva's style*

I'd make some tea but it's bloody hot here, so... Accio Ice cream!
You do remember your other half, right? Ask him for help.
In the meantime, I have Butter Pecan, Dutch Chocolate and Colombian Coffee flavour. Would you like some?

*hugs* That sucks! I know that's an understatement. I wish I could help fix things! I'm an idiot when it comes to this stuff, alas, which is why moving journals makes me nervous as hell. :(

I wish I could help you in some way. Oddly enough, I only got the duplicate entries on GJ and not on my LJ hmm... ::hugs::~Sophia

What an amazing headache. *hugs* I wouldn't be disgusted with yourself, however, or worry about readers. They can be bloody-well patient while you deal with the mess LJ's forced on you. And technology never works properly, it seems, no matter how careful you are.

I know you're busy, but thanks for the article on Brad. It makes having multiple journals more sensible now, even if they are massive pains.

Good luck with sorting everything.
Aug. 7th, 2007 12:42 am (UTC)
You're welcome, and thank you. :)

Sadly, there will be no more sorting things out tonight. I'm now sick. *shakes fist at universe; is ignored; snorts*

Hi am Tat I 'm 23 I love your fics and I don't want to lose them. By the way I can't wait to read the D/G story
Aug. 12th, 2007 02:55 am (UTC)
I bookmarked one of your entries, now I'm forbidden. Can you friend me so that I can read it -thanks. I'm over 18- greatly.

Done. :)

HUGS!!! I feel your pain! Please let me know when things are alright, I was trying to archive one of your snape/lupin/lily drabbles.

Hello! It has been entirely too long since I last read any of your fics (WIPs or otherwise), and so I returned to find them locked! Ack! Could you perhaps point me towards where you will be archiving them?

I hope that all of your remaining computer/archiving troubles disappear quickly.
Aug. 16th, 2007 03:44 am (UTC)
It'll be a bit before I actually get around to archiving. Right now, I'm rebuilding this journal so that I can move it to IJ; my fic won't be locked there. :)

Sorry about that! I was still in my RP lj. *headdesk*

Eventually, I'll be at Skyehawke, The Archive, and Walking the Plank.
